I was born and raised in Middle Tennessee, and serving the people of Sumner County has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Atmospheric Science and am now a graduate student at Mississippi State University, pursuing a dual master's program in meteorology and coding. My love for weather started much earlier, through a family friend I called Uncle Carter. He worked at the National Weather Service office in Norman before joining the Nashville office more than three decades ago. His passion shaped mine, and even though he has since passed, his influence still guides the work I do today.
Severe weather has also been part of my own story. The 2009 Murfreesboro tornado, the 2020 Hermitage tornado, and the 2023 Madison-Hendersonville and Gallatin tornado all strengthened my commitment to helping people understand what is happening and what to do next. In 2011, while working at a camp for people with special needs, I witnessed the Joplin tornado. Our staff later helped with cleanup, and that experience made the human side of weather impossible to overlook.
Those moments are why SumnerSevereWX is about more than a forecast. It is about communicating clearly when severe weather threatens, helping neighbors prepare, and being present for the community afterward.
